Food Allergy Symptoms

Allergy season is now in full swing, and people everywhere are looking for tips to get rid of allergies. One of the first things you should do if you suspect allergies, is to go have an allergy test done. This test is usually done at either your primary care physician’s office, or at the office of an Allergy and Immunology doctor.

Allergies come in all shapes and sizes. Some are seasonal, such as hay fever. Some are constant, such as food allergies. Some are only on exposure to certain substances, such as chemicals or colourants.

The classic allergic reaction, which is classified as the type-1 hypersensitivity reaction, can be elicited by food, but this is fairly uncommon. When we discuss food sensitivities in ADHD we are discussing a different, not well-defined, mechanism.

Allergy means the reaction of the body due to an immune response and reaction. Allergens will cause allergic reactions. Sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes and ears, severe wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, sinus problems and a nettle-like rash are the common symptoms of an allergy.

There are certain common factors causing an allergy. Touching grass, smelling dust, chemicals, and medicines, insect bites and eating certain types of food may cause an allergic reaction. Asthma, Bronchitis, Eczema, Dermatitis, and Urticaria are also some forms of allergy.

Allergy prevention has to begin with allergy recognition. Once you have determined exactly what you are allergic to, you can practice prevention based on the problem. For environmental allergies such as pollen, simply avoiding exposure is one of the best preventative methods. This will require tracking of the pollen counts, and staying inside if they are unusually high. Keeping all windows closed and running the air conditioner is also a helpful pollen allergy prevention.

And they are expressed by your body in different ways. Some people get skin complaints such as hives or skin eruptions. Some get it in their upper respiratory tract with typical hay fever symptoms. Some get it in their digestive tract with diarrhoea a common symptom.

There are several vitamins, minerals, and herbal remedies that are good at relieving allergy symptoms and strengthening the immune system. Vitamin B5, vitamin A, and Omega-3 Fatty Acids can help to relieve allergy symptoms, such as congestion, coughs, and runny nose. Quercetin is a plant compound that can be found in foods, such as onions, apples, and citrus fruits, that can prevent the secretion of histamine. Histamine is a chemical that the body produces during an allergic reaction that causes sneezing and other symptoms. Butterbur is a herb that is good at relieving hay fever symptoms. Licorice root, astragalus, and capsicum are also good at curing allergy symptoms.

Symptoms Of Food Allergy

Food allergy is an allergic reaction to certain types of food. Aside for the similarities in symptoms, a food allergy is more severe than food intolerance.Someone with food intolerance can eat small portions of the food he is allergic to.

There are many different things that people are allergic to. Something that commonly causes food allergies is wheat. People who are allergic to wheat often experience weight gain as a result of their reaction. It is probably difficult to imagine something common as wheat to cause problems. Most of the products that you eat contain some traces of wheat in them.

Two common types of eye allergies:

* Seasonal Allergic Conjunctivitis (SAC)
* Perennial Allergic Conjunctivitis (PAC)

When it comes to treating allergies, the homeopathic medicines can also prove to be very effective. The homeopathic treatments have been used for centuries in India and it also became very popular in Europe later. More recently, homeopathy has started gaining popularity in the United States of America also. This field of medicine takes a different approach to health and wellness, as it uses minerals and herbs and other practical applications to ease the symptoms of allergies. It basically works by stimulating the natural defensive power of the body.

An allergenic or reactive food is one that causes an allergic reaction, such as hives, wheezing, stomach cramps or stuffy nose. The foods that tend to be most highly allergenic (especially to children) are: milk wheat corn sugar soy nuts eggs.

Putting a stop to your allergies can sometimes seem like a daunting task, because of how severe and frequent that can be. While the condition known as allergies can vary from person to person in terms of what they are allergic to and how bad their allergies are, there are a lot of different ways that you can reduce the intensity and and occurrence of your symptoms on a day to day basis, so you can feel better and be more productive.

Prevention works better than cure in respect of allergy. But when allergy becomes very acute, proper treatment should be meted out to overcome it. Allergy needs proper treatment and medical diagnosis. But most importantly, allergy which is caused due to dust and pollution can be treated by way of avoiding them. It is basically recommended to stay far away from those things which produce allergies

One of the most common ways to combat allergies is to take an anti-histamine medication which will help with all of the common allergy symptoms, like water eyes, sneezing, and congestion. These can be found in most drugstores and they come in a variety of brand names. Usually the more expensive allergy medications are most effective, so you will want to pay attention to price. Many of these can make you drowsy, so pay attention to the label as well for possible side-effects.

What are some of the most common allergies? They include substances such as:

1 Pollen
2 Mold
3 Pets/animal hair
4 Latex
5 Food

Headache is one of the most frequent of human discomforts. In today’s life headache is a regular feature. Most of the times a headache is more of a nagging nuisance than an indicator of a serious problem. But, in some cases the headache does warrant more serious attention as it can be the indicator of some significant problem.]

Types of Headache

Migraine

Migraine is not just a bad headache. In fact, some people get migraine without any headache at all! The cause of migraine is still a mystery. The research to date seems to indicate that migraine is a neurological disease based on an inherited genetic abnormality.

Sinus headache

Headache causes, types and treatments can get confusing. Migraine is often misdiagnosed as sinus headache, for example. A sinus headache from sinusitis happens when you get an infection and your sinuses become inflamed. You usually have other symptoms such as congestion, fever and fatigue.
Cluster headache

Clusters are another different type of headache that may not always be a headache. Rarer than migraine, and more painful, clusters usually attack men. The cause of clusters is also somewhat of a mystery. Now research, however, is giving us clues that may crack the cluster code and provide relief. Cluster headaches may be related to the sinuses, the nervous system, and serotonin.

Symptoms of Headache

Following are the major headache symptoms:

1. Aches and tightness around head, behind the eyes, and neck

2. Depression or excitation

3. Blurring of visions

4. Confusion of ideas

Causes of Headache

Following are the major headache causes:

1. Due to allergy

2. Emotional stress and tension

3. Eye strain and poor eyesight

4. Due to high blood pressure or low blood sugar

5. Nutritional deficiency

6. Constipation or dehydration

7. Insomnia

8. Exposure to cold temperatures

How to prevent headaches

1. To prevent tension headaches avoid poor posture and eyestrain.

2. Keep an eye on foods and beverages that cause you headaches.

3. Oversleeping should be avoided in migraine headaches.

4. Relaxation and regular exercise can help prevent headaches.

Home Remedies for Headache

Apples are valuable in curing all types of headaches. After removing the upper rind and the inner hard portion of a ripe apple, it should be taken with a little salt every morning on an empty stomach in such cases. This should be continued for about a week.

The flowers of henna have been found valuable in curing headaches caused by hot sun. The flowers should be rubbed in vinegar and applied over the forehead. This remedy will soon provide relief.

Cinnamon is useful in headaches caused by exposure to cold air. A fine paste of this spice should be prepared by mixing it with water and it should be applied over the temples and forehead to obtain relief.

Causes, Symptoms an Home Remedies for Leg Pain Treatment

While leg pain is a common occurrence after an injury, there are many non-traumatic causes of leg pain. Pain in the legs can be present because of conditions that affect bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, nerves, and skin. Most often, inflammation of tissues is the end result of these diseases, and the inflammation is the source of pain. Back ailments may also present with leg pain.

Leg Pain Causes

Trauma

Trauma is the most obvious cause of leg pain. Falls, near falls, and twisting injuries can damage bones, muscles, and joints or a combination of all three. Pain from an injury to the back can inflame the sciatic nerve and cause sciatica, or pain that radiates down the leg. Overuse injuries also can cause pain and may be thought of as multiple minor traumatic injuries.

Fractures: The terms fracture, broken, and cracked all mean the same thing when referring to a bone. It means that the integrity of the bone has been compromised. The most common symptom is pain which arises from the nerve endings located in the fibrous tissue lining of the bone, called the periosteum (peri=surrounding +osteum=bone). As well, the muscles surrounding the bone go into spasm and intensify the pain.

Shin splints can be thought of as an overuse injury to the tibia or shin bone. This condition is also known as tibial stress syndrome. Running, jumping, and dancing are the most common causes.

Sprains and strains: A ligament injury is called a sprain and occurs when the ligament fibers are stretched, or partially or completely torn. Muscles and tendons can also be stretched or torn, causing a strain. Both sprains and strains result in swelling and inflammation that causes pain.

Bleeding: Injuries can also cause bleeding into tissues and joints. Since blood, like any fluid, cannot be compressed, the swelling causes significant amount of pain as the pressure increases. Compartment syndrome may occur after an injury in which excessive swelling can cause increased pressure in the sections (compartments) that contain muscles. Pain, numbness, and an inability to move the foot or ankle may be signs of compartment syndrome.

Leg Pain Symptoms

Depending upon the cause and the individual situation, symptoms of leg pain may have a wide range of presentation. The pain may be described in varying ways, for example, as sharp, dull, heavy, aching, or burning. It may be constant or intermittent, or made better or worse with activity or rest. There may be other associated symptoms, depending upon the cause.

Pain from muscles and joints often can be felt or palpated, meaning that touching the area reproduces the pain. However, the pain may radiate from its source to another location, sometimes confusing the patient and the health-care practitioner. For example, hip problems may initially present with knee pain. With some injuries and arthritic conditions, pain gradually resolves as the muscle or joint warms up during activity, but other times, the pain may be made worse with use.

Home Remedies for Leg Pain

Steam baths and massage once a week are beneficial leg pain treatment.

Take 10 grams of camphor and 200 grams of mustard oil. Mix in a glass bottle and keep the bottle in the sun till the camphor dissolves. Massage the affected area daily. This is very good home remedy for leg pain.

A red flannel can also be wrapped around the area with pain.

Use of coconut helps in curing the leg and knee pains.

To improve the general weakness of the body a well-balanced diet including all the three basic food groups is recommended.

Eating 3-4 walnuts with an empty stomach in the morning provided relief from leg pain in a short duration and is also effective home remedy for leg pain.

Leg pain treatment – Intake of cod liver oil also helps in curing all types of leg pains and general weakness of the body.

Find powerful herbal remedies Leg Pain

1-2 teaspoonful of fenugreek powder in the morning water is also effective leg pain remedy.

Boil 1-teaspoon saffron in 1/2 cup water and divide this solution into three portions and take with equal quantities of water, thrice daily for a week. This is one of the effective home remedies for leg pain .

Various yogasanas like janusandhi, uttanpadasana and gomukhasana are the beneficial natural remedies the leg pain.

A gentle massage with Arthcare Oil is recommended to leg pain cure and to strengthen the bone tissues.

Allergies Symptoms and Natural Foods That Fight Allergies

Up to 50 million Americans, including 2 million children, have some type of allergy. For most people, allergies are just an inconvenience. According to the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Disease, they are a major cause of disability in the U.S. In fact, it has been estimated that allergies account for the loss of over two million school days per year.

What Are Allergies?

An allergy is an overreaction of the immune system toward a substance that is typically harmless to most people. But in someone with an allergy, the body’s immune system treats the substance, called an allergen, as an invader and reacts inappropriately resulting in harm to the person.

Who Gets Allergies?

Children inherit allergic tendencies from their parents. A few children have allergies in spite of no family member having these, but if one parent has allergies, there is a one in four chance that a child will also have allergies. The risk increases if both parents have allergies.

Do I Have an Allergy to Something?

Some allergies are fairly easy to identify because the pattern of symptoms following certain exposures can be hard to miss. But other allergies are less obvious because they can masquerade as other conditions.

How Are Allergies Treated?

There is no cure for allergies, but symptomatic relief is possible. The most effective is by reducing or eliminating exposure to allergens. If reducing exposure is not feasible or is ineffective, medications may be prescribed. In some cases, an allergist may recommend immunotherapy (allergy shots) to help desensitize you. There are also medications you might be able to give yourself, including antihistamines and inhaled or nasal spray steroids. One medical suggestion is: ZYRTEC®

Just 1 dose of ZYRTEC® (cetirizine HCl) a day can keep allergy symptoms under control, year-round. Symptoms from both indoor allergies, like pet dander and dust. And outdoor allergies, like trees and ragweed. Plus, ZYRTEC is approved to treat indoor allergies in infants 6 months and up.

Some common allergies include those to:

Grasses

Mold Spores

Marsh Elder

Ash

Pigweed

Oak

Fall Elm

Mesquito

Elm

Sage

Red Berry Juniper

Pecan

Mountain Cedar

Ragweed

Willow

Privet

Cats

Dogs

Bees

Peanuts

Dust Mites

Food

Metals/nickle:

40 percent increase in nickel allergies is blamed on the new body piercing rage. Also some ingest nickel in foods and from chewing pens and paper clips.

Cobalt and chromium can also produce allergic reactions, but to a lesser degree than nickel. once a nickel allergy develops, it lasts for a lifetime.

Animals:

All warm-blooded, furry animals, such as the average household pet, can cause allergic reactions. This is because of proteins in their saliva, dander, and urine. When the animal licks itself, the saliva gets on the fur. As the saliva dries, protein particles become airborne and work their way into fabrics in the home. Cats are the “worst offenders” because their salivary protein is extremely tiny and they tend to lick themselves more than other animals.

Pollen:

Pollen is another important cause of allergies. Pollen allergies are seasonal. Trees, weeds, and grasses release these tiny particles into the air to fertilize other plants. Most people know pollen allergy as hay fever or rose fever.

Cockroach:

Cockroach body parts and waste products are also a major household allergen, especially in inner cities. Asthma rates of inner city children are high, probably due to air pollution and also cockroach exposure in overcrowded buildings.

Mold: One of the most commen allergen.

What is Mold?

Molds are fungi that thrive both indoors and out in warm, moist environments. As with pollen, mold spores are released into the air to reproduce. Mold is produced by several varieties of fungus. These fungi are single-celled organisms that have been around since the beginning of time.

Where can molds be found?

Although molds can be seasonal, many thrive year-round, especially those indoors. Outdoor molds may be found in poor drainage areas, such as in piles of rotting leaves or compost piles. Indoor mold thrives in

dark, moist and poorly ventilated places, such as bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms or damp basements (especially after flooding).

How do I know if I have a mold build up?

A mold test kit can be a easy soultion but does cost money, or you can simpley check crawl spaces for standing water, look for condensation forming around windows, and dampness in or on basement walls. If you are experiencing health problems, check bathrooms, bedrooms and family rooms as well. Mold requires three things to grow and multiply. It requires dampness, warmth, and a food source. Find areas that have these three things and you will surely find mold and mildew. Also a musty odor suggests mold growth.

How does mold affect my health?

Only in recent years have medical authorities realized what a health risk the kind of mold that grows in wet basements can be. According to the New York City Department of Health, in people who are allergic to it, mold can cause:

respiratory and eye irritation

flu-like symptoms

fatigue

trouble breathing

coughing

sinus congestions

nausea

chronic headache

loss of memory

other symptoms

Also when mold starts to reproduce inside a home, it can eat away at the structure, causing thousands of dollars in damage

How can I prevent mold build up and how can I keep allergy symptoms down?

Mold requires three things to grow and multiply. It requires dampness, warmth, and a food source. Simpley make sure you dont allow all three things to take place in your house. Mold is everywhere, and you wont completly rid yourself of ever having any contact with mold, but you can surley battle it.

Mold and mildew release mold spores in the air that can float throughout the house. There are several mold cleaning, prevention, and mold removal methods to deal with this problem. 2 suggestions are: Bio-Kleen and Sure Cote Mildew Resistant Coating.

Bio-Kleen can be used in any application in which you want to inhibit colonies of mold, mildew, alga, bacteria and other odor causing organisms. Easy to apply by spraying, wiping or soaking. Allow to air dry.

Sure Cote is a clear non-yellowing , non-toxic, odorless, interior/exterior, mildew resistant coating. It is designed to protect any surface exposed to moisture, high humidity or weather. Will not discolor, stain, stiffen or harm any surface which it recommended for use and gives year round protection.

It is important to try and prevent mold and mildew growth, but if it’s too late, try mold remediation and mold removal.

Allergic reactions can manifest themselves in many different physical ways, most of them extremely unpleasant. In the case of environmental allergens such as hay fever or pet dander, it is possible to limit allergic reaction severity by focusing on a diet that boosts the body?s ability to fight off reaction effects. Many of the materials that are found in medicinal allergy relief are extracted from naturally occurring ingredients in certain foods and drinks, and including these in your diet will help to alleviate your allergic symptoms. It is important to remember that these foods are for fighting environmentally triggered allergies only, and the only way to avoid food allergy symptoms is to avoid the food that cause it.

Green tea is quickly making a name for itself as a general purpose, natural cure-all. Recent studies have shown that green tea may help to combat environmental allergies as one of its many treatment applications. In an article published in The Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, Japanese scientists claim to have isolated a compound found in green tea that blocks one of the cell receptors that is key in triggering the allergic response. Because green tea is less processed than any other kind of tea, its natural composition remains unaltered and thus the compounds within it are more concentrated and better able to produce results than those found in different varieties of tea.

The acids found in Omega-3 fatty acids also are beneficial in fighting allergies, as the acid acts as a natural anti-inflammatory

by countering the formation of inflammatory chemicals. There are several foods which are very high in Omega-3 fatty acids, including several kinds of seafood and fish; salmon, haddock, herring, trout, mackerel, and sardines are all full of these acids. Other sources of Omega-3 fatty acids are soybeans, flaxseed, walnuts, and canola, and the fatty acids are also available in a more concentrated version through the oils derived from these foods. These oils can easily be included in your daily meals by adding them to the ingredients for your cooking.

Foods that have a high level of Vitamin E are also excellent in combating allergic reactions. Some of these foods include greens, which are also very
